THE VACANCY
Cranleigh Abu Dhabi invites applications for an exceptional Director of Care Support and Guidance to join the school from August 2026. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Leadership and Teaching
* Lead and oversee the KS2 Drama curriculum to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.
* Deliver inspiring drama lessons to Years 3–6 that motivate and challenge pupils.
* Ensure strong curriculum links between drama, English, and wider performing arts.
* Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the full range of student abilities.
* Develop schemes of work, resources, and assessment approaches for KS2 Drama.
* Create an engaging classroom and performance environment that supports creativity and confidence.
* Reflect on provision and adapt curriculum and teaching approaches to improve outcomes.
Assessment and Data
* Take responsibility for pupil progress in KS2 Drama.
* Maintain accurate assessment records using school systems (for example Target Tracker).
* Use assessment data to inform planning and targeted support.
* Provide clear feedback to parents through reports, conferences, and meetings.
* Conduct KS2 Drama data analysis to support curriculum improvement.
Productions and Co-Curricular
* Lead, plan, and direct the annual Year 6 production.
* Lead an engaging and inclusive KS2 Drama co-curricular programme.
* Support and contribute to whole-school performing arts events and showcases.
* Identify opportunities for KS2 pupils to perform and present their work.
* Support performing arts events that may take place in evenings or weekends.
Teamwork and Collaboration
* Work closely with performing arts and primary colleagues on curriculum planning and events.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
* Build positive relationships across the school community.
* Work flexibly and collaboratively with curriculum support staff and specialist professionals where required.
Behaviour and Pastoral
* Follow the school’s behaviour policy consistently.
* Manage classes effectively to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Maintain positive, professional relationships with pupils and exercise appropriate authority.
* Model the attitudes and behaviours expected of pupils.
* Promote independence, self-confidence, and respect in learners.
* Undertake duties as directed in line with school policy.
Wider Professional Responsibilities
* Contribute to curriculum action groups and performing arts development planning.
* Support school community events and cross-curricular initiatives.
* Communicate with parents regarding student achievement and wellbeing using school systems and processes.
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
Experience in additional performing arts disciplines such as dance and/or music is desirable.
